Running After Work

Since I work such long days, I find that is best for me to run at night after work. Working out in the morning just tires me during the day. Some of my coworkers like to workout during our lunch break but I don’t like having that sweaty feeling when I return to work. This is why nights are best for me. I may be tired from work but I find running to be meditative and relaxing. It helps me to have a better night’s sleep. Luckily, I live in a fairly safe neighborhood that is well lit. I feel comfortable as a single woman going for a run. However, just to play it safe, I usually carry my hiking stick and some pepper spray. The stick has come in useful a few times to scare off dogs that approach me off leash. I could not tell if the pups were fr! iendly or not and a wave of the stick made them freeze in their tracks. Plus, I think the stick makes me look less approachable to strangers which is a good thing. Anyhow, tonight I got home late from work but still wanted to get a short run. I changed my clothes quickly, laced my shoes, set my home security alarm (ALLHOMESECURITY), and ran out the door. It was a beautiful night for a run.
