I Love Thrift Stores..
Maybe some of you will raise your eyebrows because not a lot of people like shopping at thrift stores. If I had known that going to these kind of store can save me big bucks, I could’ve started when I was younger and when I had lesser kids. I only started going to Goodwill and Thrift store in 2007, when we were still in Clarksville, TN. My friend introduced me to it. And from then on, I love going to second hand store. I do know that there are times that you would think it’s not sanitary, but there’s a lot of ways to make sure that you can clean up the merchandise before you use it. You can always wash it before wearing it.
I had bought a lot of stuff from thrift stores and I am proud of myself by doing it. I send boxes to the Philippines for my family, and where do I go to buy stuff? Of course, at the thrift store. I don’t buy the ones with holes and stains. You can get a lot of slightly used items at the thrift store. Going there sometimes give me peace when I am getting so bored. I drive with my 4- year old and we will go to the store, she helps me pick the merchandise. I have lots of nieces that would benefit from my shopping. I can’t afford to buy them brand new stuff, and they are happy to receive anything that I send them.
When I go to the thrift store, I see a lot of people shopping there, so obviously, I am not the only one who loves saving money. I go to our American Thrift Store here in Decatur, and I love it there. They have lots of merchandise to choose from. I had bought so many stuff for my kids, for myself and for my family. I just sent 2 jumbo boxes of used clothing to my family in the Philippines and I am so proud of myself. I will do it every year, since the cost of shipping is not cheap. This summer, I will start shopping again to send next year. Filling a jumbo box with clothes and other stuff takes time. With the number of nieces and nephews I have back home, it takes me a year to fill 3 jumbo boxes. It creates a hole in my pocket, but their happiness and their facial expression when they open those boxes, it’s PRICELESS and I love it when I see them happy.

If you are not picky like me, you can go to thrift stores and shop for something that you need, especially for children’s clothing. Kids grow so fast, and you will save a lot of money by just buying them slightly used clothes. You can buy them brand new stuff if it’s for special occasion. That’s what I do, no wonder they have gazillion of clothes. Good thing about it..after they grow out of it, I send them to my little nieces in the Philippines. See? Those $0.99 cents outfit can be used not only by 1 child, it will be used by other kids who unfortunately don’t have so much money.

This is where we usually buy clothes. There is nothing wrong with slightly used as long as it gives you comfort while wearing the clothes.
